The Railway Children

This May Day weekend is supposed to be one of the markers for the 40th anniversay of the making of the film The Railway Children, with a balloon race? I have to say I would have thought that something a little more ambitious and inspiring could have been put together to mark such an occasion.
Hopefully, if summer arrives, there will be more events to draw people to the village which seems to be becoming increasingly quiet with shops closed at odd times and little to whet the visitors' appetites.

Train travel in the age of innocence

Visited the railway museum at Ingrow today. I'm no steam buff but what a show they have there.
I'd pay good money to travel in the first class carriage with the plush blue leather seats, and with its own toilet and hand basin.
Is it really 40 years since The Railway Children?
